A toast: 'Welcome to my hall and table.'


Catching food:
  • Salmon traps
  • ‘You won’t have food caught by other people for you all of your life. You will need to play your part. And, who knows? Maybe one day you’ll have to bring down your own meals. You’ll be glad of time spent with bow and spear then.’

Cooking food:
  • Spitting over a fire (food unspecified; deer)
  • ‘in front of the hearth, toasting bread on a long fork’
